How Many Types of Heart Surgery

One of the most common types of heart surgery is Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG), often abbreviated as CABG.

During CABG, a surgeon takes a healthy blood vessel, usually from the leg or chest, and grafts it onto the blocked coronary artery to bypass the blockage.

The balloon is inflated to compress the plaque and widen the artery, restoring blood flow. In many cases, a stent (a small mesh tube) is also placed in the artery to keep it open.
